English writing or even a proper Bahasa Malaysia writing must be done through knowledge, skill and practice. Practices do vary according to people's interests such as through blogging, writing in a diary, a report, or even by contesting! These, among others..formal or informal would in a way improve our writing.
We are all busy with our work, family and business (if any). So, it is very time consuming to sit down and write. However, as lecturers or students...a future researcher or writer must always write in order to publish. It must be done consistently and systematically on top of having the passion to do so.
Many people have become writers at a very young age...writing short stories, novels or even academic writings. A question to myself is 'What about you, Huda?'. You are already a lecturer for the past three years and yet...you haven't write anything yet!..ops...there was one...a co-writer with my husband on the 'Overview of The Higher Education Legal Framework' which will be published this year, I hope...insyaAllah. Three years of service...1 publication...thanks to my dear husband. Wink..:).
Writing practices come from our interest or passion to do so. In order to develop the interest, I must see writing as a hobby and it can be done traditionally (pen and book) or with computers..(you are lucky to have an i-pad because it can just be put inside your handbag..:P).
Most importantly...practise!..:)
